Quaran-time

A bright morning,

Waking up at nine;

The lockdown has been suspended.

“COVID-19 under control”, the headlines flashing on every screen.

You get up with a beaming face,

“Indeed, 2021 was the longest year for most of us.”

And they say,

“The scariest thing about distance is that you don’t know whether they’ll miss you or forget you.”

With insecurities popping out as tears,

Conference calls, the constant saviours!

Who knew,

These dumbasses would be missed to this extent?

Eagerly.

Anxiously.

Crossing off each date on the calendar,

You made it till the end,

The wait is finally over

And

That day has come at last!

Finally having a real hug, not the virtual GIF one.

That long-awaited first five-minute-long of being held in each other’s arms.

The day when you’ll get out of the four walls,

On the streets or some open farms,

Admiring the breeze through your unbraided hair,

Humming songs while walking, just like before.

The long walks,

With useless talks.

Sprawled over the green grass,

With a happiness filled atmosphere.

The day when we’ll all hold hands, yet again,

Accompanied by tons of lame jokes and uncontrollable giggles and laughter.

The big blue sky,

And the different shades of sunset,

Enjoying whilst sipping brewed coffee with the missed ones.

Now, you’ll finally be able to flaunt that new dress hanging inside the closet for so long,

Café-hopping,

Back to your Baskin Robbin’s Chocolate Mousse Royale!

The pizza and the butter chicken you’ve been craving will be now,

All yours.

Yeah, smile wider!

Let your eyes shine brighter!

That day has come!

We’ll again be living our ‘firsts’,

The day after quarantine ends.

Until then,

Keep scrolling,

Keep sending me memes,

Let the binge-watching continue.

Stay home,

Stay safe!
